UIN Jakarta’s Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teachers Training to Host ICEMS 2024: Focusing on Multiculturalism and Literacy in Education

Gedung FITK, BERITA FITK Online–  South Tangerang, August 12, 2024 – The Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teachers Training (FITK) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta is set to host the 9th International Conference on Education in Muslim Society (ICEMS) on August 14-15, 2024. The conference, which will take place at Mahmud Yunus Theater, carries the theme "Integrating Multiculturalism and Literacy in the Educational Landscape," a theme that resonates deeply in the context of global social and cultural challenges.

As a nation celebrated for its cultural diversity, Indonesia faces the need for a deeper understanding of multiculturalism, particularly within the education sector. This conference aims to bring together academics, researchers, and practitioners from various fields to share insights and experiences on how multiculturalism and literacy can be effectively integrated into education systems.

Keynote speakers include prominent figures such as Prof. Dr. H. Ahmad Zainul Hamdi, M.Ag., Director of Islamic Higher Education, who will open the conference. Additionally, UIN Jakarta’s Rector, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., and Prof. Siti Nurul Ayah, M.Sc., Ph.D., will also deliver keynote addresses. International speakers like Leslie Moore from The Ohio State University, USA, and Prof. Shinji Nobira from Aichi University of Education, Japan, are set to contribute their perspectives.

Over the course of two days, the conference will feature a variety of sessions including keynote addresses, panel discussions, and parallel sessions covering topics such as language education, social sciences, leadership, early childhood education, and religious education. The event is expected to foster sustainable research collaborations and contribute to the advancement of educational technology in Indonesia.
